Czech this out – ŠKODA achieves best first half year in the company’s history!

Czech automotive brand Skoda; have recently announced that 2017 has been a bit of a corker for them. Having delivered 585,000 vehicles worldwide from January to June, it’s been the best first half in their 122 year history.

But don’t think it’s all ‘Kodiaq’, for although the SUV has proven to be (quite rightly) very popular (27,100 since February), deliveries have increased globally for SUPERB and FABIA too; while OCTAVIA remains brand’s bestseller.

“Having delivered well over half a million cars, we have achieved the strongest half-year in ŠKODA’s history,” says ŠKODA CEO Bernhard Maier, adding: “Our SUV campaign is proving effective. The high demand for the ŠKODA KODIAQ has exceeded our expectations and confirms that we are on the right path. We will continue to strengthen our position in this crucial segment with the new ŠKODA KAROQ compact SUV.”

Here in New Zealand, ŠKODA has seen record levels of new-to-brand customers.

Greg Leet, General Manager, explains, “We’re forecasting about a 20% growth in sales over last year, which will be a new record for us. It will really be driven by the new Octavia range as well as Kodiaq. The team is especially excited about the new Octavia RS which has a hard core fan-base that is also growing as more people look for a quality combination of pace and space”.

Seems that 2017 is the year of the winged arrow!
