It Rocks (without the Roll) – Mercedes GLE 63S

Most popular songs work to a very similar format, verse, chorus, verse, chorus – repeat until story told (ideally) and then find a way for it to end. Yes this is very much simplifying the process and of course it needs to have things like an amazing soundtrack/catchy tune too but the point is, often it’s basically a formula. If we talk in terms of averages, a popular song would have somewhere around 2-300 words with maybe three- four verses interjected with a chorus or hook.
For example, my chorus or ‘hook’ for this AMG GLE 63 S Coupe piece is: The Agility Control suspension keeps the body straight and the engine growl is good for the soul, but all you need to know is this GLE coupe engine rocks and it corners well without the roll.
Diamond white metallic paint with AMG exclusive Nappa leather interior, the new GLE 63 S Coupe is a formidable sight especially sitting on 22” Cross spoke rims. Viewing it from the side; the flow of the coupe styling does make you double take but the huge Mercedes badge on the grille leaves you with no mistake about the make of the impressive SUV before you. With huge air blades below and a vented and expansive bonnet it really does command attention. Round the back the spoiler hang over the curve of the tailgate and the chrome rhombus style twin AMG branded tailpipes really catch your eye.

Due to the Coupe styling; getting in to the SUV can cause a crack of the head on the A pillar but once inside the cabin is everything you’d expect from a car of this stature. DINAMACA black headlining, AMG Alcantara performance wheel, Heated/ventilated and Massage front seats and leather and carbon dash. Kidney shaped air vents sandwich the 8” Colour display, while a 14 speaker Harmon Kardon stereo kicks out 830watts of sound. It even has temperature hot/cold controlled cup holders.

Under the bonnet is a 5.5litre V8 bi turbo behemoth of an engine that kicks out 430kW and 760Nm of torque, something that you can watch in crystal clear clarity on the 8” display screen as it happens. 0-100 is in a mere 4.2 seconds and in sports + mode the exhaust baffles open and the V8 roars and spits as it goes up and down the gears. On the road the SUV runs faultlessly, for such a big SUV it feels broad but extremely manageable. At lower speeds you feel the Sports Direct Steer system doing its thing, the sensation runs uncomfortably through to the wheel but as you pick up speed and take on windy roads you’re pleased it’s there.

The unofficial average length of a pop song is around 3 minutes and According to the Guinness book of Records, the longest officially released song is ‘To our yes’ sung by PCIII label Pipe Choir with an impressive length of 1hour 59mins and 54 seconds – having now spent a week listening to the soundtrack of the Mercedes AMG GLE 63 S Coupe V8 in Sports + mode, I can safely say that I have more than blown that title out of the water.
