Speaker of the house – Harman Kardon Allure

Harman Kardon Allure

It seems rather odd to refer my son’s (often inane) questions to a speaker, but that is exactly what I have been doing ever since the Harman Allure arrived at our house.

As my 8-year old continues to learn about the world we live in and beyond, the barrage of questions is relentless. As a parent you feel duty-bound to answer the who, what, why, when and how many’s as honestly as possible (even if I don’t know the answer) but now I have an ally, the know it all, futuristic looking, 360-degree voice-activated speaker called Allure.

Working with Amazon Alexa via a dual-band WiFi, the Harman Kardon Allure waits patiently to be addressed through its 4-microphone far-field voice activation system before lighting up its transparent body and then enlightening our lives. Allure scours the internet for answers (often quoting sources too), tells stories and jokes, gives global weather forecasts and even offers useful facts to kick off the day. On top of all this, Allure can also connect to your smart home devices (when on the same platform) and of course, since it’s Harman Kardon, stream music with depth and clarity you’d expect from such a fine audio brand (the built-in subwoofer helps play its part too).

With its great sound and eye-catching looks, Allure makes for a stylish talking point (quite literally) of any room and in our case, a very welcomed ‘speaker of the house’
